What is CAT?
CAT is used by IIMs and other participating management institutions. Each institution applies its own shortlist, interview and final-selection policy.
Check eligibility before registering
Read the current information bulletin for qualifying examinations, required subjects, minimum marks, age or attempt conditions where applicable and document requirements. Eligibility to sit an assessment can be different from eligibility for a programme or counselling seat.
Preparation focus
Verbal ability and reading comprehension, data interpretation and logical reasoning, quantitative ability.
Begin with a diagnostic test, then alternate concept practice with sectional tests. Track accuracy and question selection, not only attempted questions.
Your application checklist
- Open the official exam portal and download the current information bulletin.
- Check programme eligibility before choosing subjects or papers.
- Record registration, correction-window, admit-card and exam dates from official notices.
- Submit accurate details, retain the acknowledgement and verify payment status.
- After results, complete any separate institutional application or counselling process.
After the result
Read the scorecard and the next-stage instructions carefully. A score alone may not complete selection. For entrance routes, inspect counselling, interviews or programme-specific registration. For a scholarship assessment, confirm the award terms, applicable degree and validity period in writing.
